My Approach to Your Treatment

My Practice

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the care process involves active participation from both practitioner and patient. The practitioner contributes through experience and clinical expertise, while the patient focuses on integrating healthy lifestyle practices into daily life. This collaborative approach forms the core of TCM, requiring practitioners to thoroughly assess each patient's unique circumstances and develop personalized treatment plans that address both symptoms and underlying causes of illness.

Our goal during our sessions together is to empower you.TCM emphasizes personalized care, meeting each person where they are in their current health journey. Through acupuncture, bodywork, and Chinese herbal medicine, we aim to support your body's natural healing abilities by providing guidance and assistance.

Additionally, drawing from my background as a Western Medicine Doctor enhances my ability to tailor treatments effectively, ensuring we find the best approach to help you achieve improved well-being and a better quality of life.

I have a general practice which tends to focus on the maintenance of good health, mental and emotional well-being, gynecological health, digestive health, stress, fatigue and pain. If you are wondering whether Chinese medicine could benefit you as well, feel free to reach out and contact me!

How many treatments

Generally, we can say the following:

  • Acute conditions: 3 - 5 treatments is ideal.

  • Chronic conditions: 6 - 8 treatments is ideal.

Since some chronic conditions cannot be fully cured, our treatment approach aims to provide ongoing support and management.

Your Visit

Before:

  • After booking your treatment, you will be emailed an intake form to complete before our session via a secure, online charting platform.

  • Before your visit it is best to eat a small meal or snack, and arrive well hydrated.

  • If you intend on exercising this day, try to do it in the morning before your appointment.

  • If possible, it is best to wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing.

During:

  • During our initial session together, we'll delve deeply into your health and lifestyle, even aspects that may initially seem unrelated to your primary reason for seeking acupuncture. This comprehensive clinical intake provides crucial insights for the diagnostic process in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). By carefully considering a broad range of signs, symptoms, as well as conducting tongue and pulse diagnosis, TCM excels in addressing conditions where other methods may fall short.

  • We will outline a treatment plan which may include acupuncture, cupping, and/or gua sha, and also what you may do on your own, such as taking a prescribed Chinese herbal formula, or making adjustments to your diet and lifestyle.

  • Following the needle application, you'll have an opportunity to rest and relax for approximately 30 minutes while the needles remain in place, allowing the treatment to take effect. This period of relaxation is integral to the healing process and helps maximize the benefits of the acupuncture session.
